Marianna Uutinen

The Sara Hildén Art Museum has invited Marianna Uutinen to present a comprehensive solo retrospective exhibition, showcasing works from the late 1980s to the present day.

The exhibition has been curated in collaboration with the artist. It is structured both chronologically and thematically, presenting key phases relating to the use of materials.

Marianna Uutinen (b. 1961) is a highly regarded contemporary artist, renowned for her pioneering work in painting. Her innovative approach has redefined painting, expanding its possibilities and deepening viewers’ interaction with her works.

The artist’s ethos of freedom is reflected in her desire to keep the meanings of her works open.  In her works, the organic and the artificial, splendour and fragility, the sublime and the banal, and abundance and minimalism are all possible simultaneously. This ambivalence creates a tension that sustains the openness of her work.
