Sara Hildén Art Museum's spring exhibition of key artists from the Foundation's international collection

The exhibition The Red Birds of the Green Tree - Works from the Sara Hildén Foundation Collection, which opens on 17 February 2024, presents key artists and works from the Foundation's foreign collection from the early 20th century to the present day: paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints.

Sara Hildén Art Museum will not move to the Finlayson area

17.1.2024 The construction of a new building for the Sara Hildén Art Museum in the Finlayson area has been abandoned. The City of Tampere, the Sara Hildén Foundation and Mutual Pension Insurance Company Varma have jointly stated that the proposed building site in the centre of Tampere does not serve the museum's needs for development. The museum will continue to operate in its current premises.

Jean-Michel Othoniel exhibition at Sara Hildén Art Museum

Thomas Houseago – WE with Nick Cave & Brad Pitt Exhibition opens an interesting cultural autumn in Tampere Finland

19.9.2022 Sara Hildén Art Museum is proud to present Thomas Houseago’s first exhibition in the Nordic countries. Thomas Houseago is a world-renowned artist, known for sculptures in plaster, rebar, bronze and wood. For this exhibition, the British-born artist is also presenting new paintings and sculptures in redwood and plaster including responding to work in the collection of the Sara Hildén Foundation, Alberto Giacometti's (1901–1966) sculpture Woman on a Chariot (1943, 1962).

Collection

The Sara Hildén Foundation comprises over 5,000 works of modern and contemporary art. Highlights include world-famous names such as Joan Miró, Francis Bacon, Paul Klee and Alberto Giacometti. Recent additions include Kiki Smith and Marcel Dzama. The Finnish collection contains an extensive selection of modern and contemporary works by Finland’s leading artists.

The scenic open-air sculpture gallery outside the museum features 19 outdoor sculptures that engage in an inspirational dialogue with their natural setting. Free admission.
