Sirkku Rosi
Sirkku Rosi (b. 1987) lives and works in Lempäälä.
Rosi works primarily in watercolour on paper or canvas, exploring themes of embodiment and the interconnectedness of humans and nature. She portrays the human body as both part of the natural world and as a vessel for myriad other organisms. Through her art, Rosi examines the intersections of physical and visual expression, femininity, and the shared human experience of embodiment and carnality.
For Rosi, painting is a deeply physical act. Her figures are not portraits, nor does she work from models; she may experiment with her own body to explore postures, but anatomical fidelity is secondary. What she seeks to capture is the felt sense of the body. Informed by her extensive engagement with performance and dance, movement lies at the heart of her process of thinking and sketching.
